Award for THREE DAYS OF FISH at Karlovy Vary

The two stars of the film receive the Best Actor award

Ton Kas and Guido Pollemans have won the Best Actor Award ex-aequo for their roles in Three Days of Fish. The film was selected as opening film of the Crystal Globe Competition programme of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, which came to an end on Saturday.

Three Days of Fish is director Peter Hoogendoorn’s sophomore feature, who also wrote the screenplay, and is produced by Circe Films in co-production with Kaap Holland and the Belgian production house A Private View. Heretic are handling international sales.

The film, a dry-witted chronicle of a father and son as they unravel a remarkable but complex connection, has received great press during the festival. Some quotes:

“At once universally familiar […] this story of a brief,  fraught reunion between a distant father and his unmoored son is an
intimate, closely examined character piece”
Variety

“A wry, tender, tragicomic gem.”

“Finding both deadpan humour and inconsolable sadness in family tensions that will feel painfully relatable
to many viewers, writer-director Peter Hoogendoorn’s semi-autobiographical second feature calls to mind
the bittersweet emotional terrain of Alexander Payne.”
The Film Verdict

“Hits the bull’s eye as it portrays a complex interaction between a father and son in a profound, universal manner
to which everyone can relate,”
